Some food for thought, as some say you are what you eat, and it is true, but only partially true. Some claim you are what you drink. Again, only partially true. Getting to the root core of cause and effect, you are what you think and that will determine what you eat or drink, or say or become.
It has been said by hundreds of philosophers and priests and shaman and today thousands more self-help gurus and mentors tout it because it is true, and yes, it is as simple as it sounds
I remember an old acronym from the programming world; GIGO: Garbage IN = Garbage OUT. It seems simplistic, and it is and it works.
As people equate the mind to the ultimate computer, it seems applicable here to me, as if you put Negativity In, you will get Negativity out, or hopefully Positivity in and get Positivity Out. As the philosopher James Allen stated nothing comes from nettles but nettles, corn from corn. It seems simple enough, yet some souls believe otherwise. Not believing it doesn’t change it that they are at the whim of society, life, reality. They haven’t put together the cause and effect or what other claim is the Law of Attraction. That what you think about you bring about.
If you control your thoughts you will control your world. "Mind is the master power that molds and makes, And man is mind, and everyone he takes, The tool of Thought, and shaping what he wills, Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills:- He thinks in secret, and it comes to pass: Environment is but a looking glass." As we are the makers of ourselves by the virtue of the thoughts we choose as our mind is the master maker of our circumstance. As clearly stated by the aphorism, "As a man thinketh in his heart so is he," A person is literally what they think and their character being the sum of their thoughts. A noble and Godlike character is not a thing of favor nor chance, but is a result of continued effort in right thinking with visions of pure and kind thoughts.
As the White Lotus System states, Let the mind guide you, the spirit drive you and the body protect you. The mind serves the spirit and the body serves the mind. Unfortunately, when that is confused or poisoned, the body becomes sick and you become destitute and your life becomes hard and things look ugly, and YOUR reality looks bleak and horrible. Although your ego convinces you it IS reality, it is just your reality. The ego takes over and runs you into the ground as there is only growth or decay. When you realize that you are either in one state or the other, you realize that even little success is decay, then its egoic fog that allows you to remain as you are, as the ego will prove its ok. A thousand excuses, a thousand ills.
The body is the servant of the mind, and will obey whether your thoughts are deliberately chosen or automatically expressed, whether you choose positive healthy vibrant thoughts, or you choose sickly negative poor thoughts. Either way they will manifest. If choosing negative thoughts you will quickly descend into a state of decay which can include disease, financial ruin, or much more. If choosing positive thoughts you will quickly ascend into the beautiful world around you into good health, wealth and more. If you think you are being positive and things don’t change right away, maybe you are deep down holding you back with thoughts of poverty or sickness, or maybe you just think you are being positive as you are more positive than you were, but nowhere near actual positivity. Let's look at school grades, in percentages, as if you were scoring 30% positivity, is still and "F" but may be way up for the 10% you were. Yes, it is much more, but still very negative and existing in a state of decay.
Most students I teach, change their thoughts and change their worlds, physically, financially and spiritually, but every once in a while, I get a student who cannot use a single positive word, yet complain about how it doesn’t work and try to convince all others around them how it doesn't work and it isn’t reality, and yet just because it is only their reality, try to bring others into their poisoned world of thought and decay, because it must be everyone's reality, as the ego is there to continue to prove them right and of their reality. Just remember whether you convince others of your story, it is still only your reality, until others choose to accept you story, as it can become their too, but it still just your story. You can choose any story you want from poverty, sickness, disease, or success, health, wealth, and happiness.
Just remember, if it doesn’t work as fast as your ego demands, we all travel from different distances to achieve our goals, some just take longer, as some are so entrenched in their righteousness and ways of old thought, it could take a while to change, or so your ego would have you believe.
It not a race, so don’t start benchmarking yourself to others, as that will tear up your ego, which will lash out at you and everyone around you. Benchmark yourself with yourself. See how far you have come and where you wish to go. Make it work for you, as it will if you let it. Please understand, from what I have seen, teaching and mentoring for decades, is that those that wish to move forward, do so. Those that wish to remain where they are, also do so. Remember, actions speak louder than words, but if you don’t like the results in your life, change what you are doing and things will accordingly change. A definition of Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Quit complaining about your lot in life, justifying your story to anyone who will listen, ranting and going off. Start raving about what you want, how it will be, actually change your thoughts, don’t just say you are. As Nike says, "Just Do It", or even better, Just Did It! Change now don’t wait, do it, did it, done it, lets go!
Change your attitude and change your world. All achievements, whether financial, business, intellectual, health, relationships, or spiritual, are the end result of directed thought and are all governed by the same laws. The only difference is the object of attainment and the time it takes depends on your accepting of that attainment. The vision you hold in your mind, your goals, the idea that you hold in your heart - that burning desire for change, you will bring to pass, you will bear its fruit, so you will become. As James Allen stated, environment is but a looking glass. All that a person achieves or fails to achieve are a result of their own thoughts. A persons health or disease, strength or weakness, success or poverty, are all their own and brought about by themselves, and can never be brought on by another.
“Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Choose your words, for they become actions.
Understand your actions, for they become habits.
Study your habits, for they will become your character.
Develop your character, for it becomes your destiny.”
Keep your thoughts positive,
because your thoughts become your words.
Keep your words positive,
because your words become your behaviors.
Keep your behaviors positive,
because your behaviors become your habits.
Keep your habits positive,
because your habits become your values.
Keep your values positive,
because your values become your destiny.
~ Gandhi ~
“Sow a thought, and you reap an act;
Sow an act, and you reap a habit;
Sow a habit, and you reap a character;
Sow a character, and you reap a destiny.”
- Charles Reade
“The thought manifests as the word,
the word manifests as the deed.
The deed develops into habit,
habit hardens into character.
So watch the thought
and its ways with care;
Let it spring from love
born out of concern for all beings.
As the shadow follows the body…
As we think, so we become.”
- Siddhartha Gautama
Again, it is known in many forms and many languages and been known for some time. Take control of your body, free your mind instead of being at the mercy and whims of others thoughts, and be what you were designed to be, magnificent! Just remember, as turbulent as it may be drifting across the ocean of life, beauty awaits you at your port, smiling waiting to greet you, where it is sunny and serene. Keep your hand firmly on the helm of your ideas, guide yourself, command your thought, as self-control is strength, right thought is mastery, calmness is power. Say unto your heart, "Peace, be still!"
