Moving away from Traditional Health Care

By: Corson Smith

Is healthcare reform possible? Can we change the way the nation’s healthcare operates? And if so, will
it ever be what we are looking for?
If the primary goal for our healthcare industry remains in the background, to make money, then we will
never achieve the true reform that we need.
There have been countless studies on healthcare and healthcare reform, and the majority of people
polled believe health care reform is more important than ever. However, 37% of the nation says they
can’t afford health care reform because of economic problems. According to the Kaiser Family
Foundation’s April health tracking poll, more Americans are starting to avoid the doctor and 3 in 10
people are not even filling their prescriptions. Furthermore, 2 out of 10 people cut their medicine in half
or skip doses and 42% of people polled are substituting doctor visits for over-the-counter substitutes
and home remedies.
With the cost of health care rising it’s no wonder why Americans are drinking 2.2 billion gallons of tea
each year, according to the Tea Association of America.
Researcher at the Linus Pauling Institute in Oregon tested white tea on rats to see the ability the tea had
to inhibit the natural mutations in bacteria and to protect the rats from colon cancer. The researchers
found the white tea, such as Pai Mu Tan, was incredibly effective fighting against the early stages of
cancer. This is just one example of the many things that tea can provide. A few benefits of tea are…
 Helps the body absorb calcium
 Natural source of minerals and vitamins
 Helps balance the energy
 Breaks down fats – after a meal
 Increases mental aptitude
 Helps the body purge toxins
 Boosts the immune system
 Supports the functions of the liver, kidney and bladder and all organs
There are many other benefits as well. Different teas have different emphasis in their properties to
provide different benefits. And when mixed with Kung Fu herbs, they can be unstoppable.
For centuries tea has been a daily treat to help keep the body healthy. With health care cost rising tea is
no longer just a beverage, it is an inexpensive and easy way to help keep out of the healthcare system
that so desperately needs reform.
